I am not really a collector, so to speak, but I absolutely LOVE a good nail polish and I do have somewhat of a … dare I say it … collection?!
I’ve had to get rid of some that have gone all gunky on me. I know there are ways to get them to their former state, but I have found that they do not appeal to me as much afterwards so I’d rather just replace them. Amidst my nail polish organization spree, I found 2 shades of the Essence Gel Nail Polish range and I am so annoyed with myself for completely forgetting about them. These little gems were my Kitchen Tea thank you gifts a little over a year ago and I’ve fallen in love with them all over again!
I have #09 Lucky which is a gorgeous and fun bright pink color, as well as #16 Fame Fatal which is a sultry and sexy red. I’ve already put a saving plan in place to be able to get more colors in the range because I desperately need #46 Black is Black, #44 On Air as well as #40 Play with my Mint, in my life.
Now the fun part – the actual review!
I love the cute little bottle it comes in as well as the thick applicator brush. I have a rather large nail bed and with this brush it only takes 3 strokes to cover the whole nail. I have to say I am also impressed by the fact that this polish is such an amazing product and it sells for less than R30 (via Takealot.com).
While the appearance of the product and the application thereof is important, what really gets me excited for this range is the fact that (as the name clearly indicates) it has a gel-like finish and it actually lasts once it is applied. Nothing irritates me more than having to spend time doing my manicure and as soon as I have dishes or laundry to do, the polish starts chipping. Nail polish companies do realize they’re making this mainly for women, right? Women who spend their time doing housework.
However, the exact duration that it wears on your nails before chipping will depend on your body chemistry and how you treat your nails.
